Progress, Regress, Possess

As she progressed through the ebb and flow of exploring all his sides she grew fearful
The deeper she excavated, past the niceties, sambusa for breakfast she found a ghastly discovery
All the well wishes faded after month two and were replaced with pride, ego, possession
The times he wished her well on her travels morphed into interrogations of her explorations and their true purpose
She attempted shaking these questions off as frivolous but they floated to the surface each month
She could have chartered a helicopter to his bed every night and it would be in vain
How do you please someone who wants all of you?
How do you choose to be loved by someone who wants to engulf you until you are only theirs?
She couldn’t fathom this newness
Her heart shattered at the utterance of the words
I must leave she realised
She chartered the quickest boat away from the lochness monster she once held softly
With the coastline behind her she exhaled and found comfort in what she always held dearest, herself.
