Last week the most incredible thing happened! We traveled 10 hours to the North of Dar es Salaam to Arusha town, Tanzania. Home to Mt. Meru and nearby in Moshi- the incredible Mt. Kilimanjaro. Our week long safari was like nothing I’ve ever done in my whole life. I’ve learned so much, seen so much, and been absolutely in awe of the beauty of the Lord’s creations. With that, I’ll tell of the amazing safari in 5 parts because so many different things happened I can’t simply condense them into one post.
First, we arrived in Arusha late Monday night and had a rest for the next morning we would head about 2 hours west to Lake Manyara. When we arrived in Lake Manyara we stayed in a beautiful tented camp that overlooked the Lake which eventually will dry up due to human activities. We saw monkeys, giraffes, water buffalo, hippos, and lots of baboons also. As the day ended we headed back to our tented camps for some dinner and drinks. The hotel proprietors set up a camp fire for us and we ended the day. Day One on safari was a success! The most incredible thing about being in the national park though was the unbelievable silence. Aside from our car’s engine everything near the lake was so incredibly peaceful and undisturbed. I really felt like I was in the animal’s environment simply as a visitor and things moved so slowly around us.
